Dr. Richardson has devoted her professional life to a common theme that unites all these audiences: end the significant, needless suffering from the daily grind or grinding poverty by empowering individuals to become more conscious about their relationship to work. A philosophy that also creates tangible benefits for employers through employees and management empowered and invested in business growth that is rooted in individual success.
The seed for Dr. Richardson’s work was planted in childhood when she discovered that happiness in the home has a lot to do with how happy parents are with their work. With that thought in mind, she created Career Consciousness. “After all, work is a relationship, just like any other significant relationship and one needs to develop a career consciousness to maximize its benefits. Work truly can be a transforming vehicle for personal and professional development. However, there is an interdependency between personal and professional growth - one helps or hinders the other.”
Dr. Richardson’s clients have come to understand that when employees experience a sense of satisfaction and contribution, and leaders are trained to succeed, then businesses, organizations and agencies grow and win along with their employees. Her clients include Bayer Pharmaceuticals, Camden County Community College, City of Philadelphia, Middle Bucks Institute of Technology, Penn State University, Philadelphia Workforce Development Corporation, University of Pennsylvania, White-Williams Scholars, Independence Blue Cross, Asociación Puertorriqueños en Marcha (APM), and Department of Veterans Affairs.
Helen Richardson has a Masters in Human Services from Lincoln University and a Doctorate in Organizational Development and Training from Temple University. She has an International Coaching Certification from the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland; certified in 360 degree assessments from the Center for Creative Leadership; is qualified in a wide variety of personality assessments including the Myers-Briggs; and a licensed Work Keys™ Job Profiler.
Prior to launching her consulting firm, she held senior level human resource positions in both corporate and nonprofit organizations, including University of the Sciences, Philadelphia; Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company; and the United Presbyterian Church.
